In order to guide and accomplish a coordinated and harmonious development of the city
and the Northwest Georgia Area that will, in accordance with existing and future needs,
best promote public health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity and the
general welfare, as well as efficiency and economy in the process of development,
the Coosa Valley Area Planning and Development Commission is created and established
as authorized by O.C.G.A. § 36-70-1 et seq. The area planning commission shall be
organized and empowered as provided in this division.
